In April 2014, I went to Utrecht to attend the First OCPE Conference at the Nieuwegein Business Center. OCPE (Opleidingscentrum Permanente Educatie) offers continuous training for translators and interpreters in the Netherlands. The event in Utrecht was the first ever conference organised by Danuta Jong, the mastermind behind OCPE, and Iulianna van der Lek, who runs the TradFlow language consultancy. Intitled "Translation technology - opportunity or threat?" it was certainly one of the most interesting and best organised conferences I have been to. You can consult the programme here.
I was invited as opening speaker to talk about the often difficult relationship between interpreters and technology. Embedded above is a dry-run of my talk along with the slides.
More coverage of the conference can be found on Twitter (hashtags #ocpe14 and #ocpe2014) and in this post written by one of the participants (in Dutch).
