No one left behind - with Robert Ham
This episode of the LangFM podcast will have a slightly different feel to it. We’ll be talking about a rather serious topic: the fate of the interpreters who worked for foreign soldiers active in war zones like Afghanistan.
You are certainly aware of what happened there, you’ll know that the international community has been bringing its soldiers back home starting last year. However, the many locals that assisted the troops stay behind. And they have become the target of revenge of the Taliban and other radical groups.
My guest, Robert Ham, is a two-time Emmy-winning filmmaker and former Army combat documentarian. He spent time in Afghanistan as a soldier and relied heavily on the work of an interpreter. Robert now runs a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for a short film about the story of his Afghan interpreter.
